My Neutral Winter Uniform

Happy Wednesday! When meeting with new, potential clients, I often hear “I’m not sure what my style should be for my home”. Most people, including myself, don’t like to pigeon hole themselves into a certain genre or decor style like “beach” or “modern” or “traditional”. Instead of putting a label on the interior design of your home, take a look at the items in your closet. What shoes, clothes and accessories are your favorites? What materials and colors do you gravitate towards? High-end fashion designers set the trend for the interior design industry so why not incorporate that same idea into your home?!

My personal style is completely in line with my design aesthetic. The colors and materials I wear year round stay pretty consistent: jeans, light brown shoes and sweaters, black and white accents and neutral tops that can be dressed down or dressed up.

Below are eight of my most worn items this winter! Enjoy…

ONE - I bought these booties during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this past summer and was not disappointed with my pre-fall purchase! I have them in the tortilla suede color and am a fan of how they look with number two on my list ;). The heel height is ideal to wear to work meetings but also can be elevated with a dress for a night out!

TWO - I have been living in these jeans. I have another ripped pair from Agolde and I wanted to find something similar, but more appropriate for the frigid NJ temps. Most days, I pair these jeans with flats and occasionally these booties (number one).

THREE - I have this top in black and have the “heather grey” color in my cart. The material is great and you can’t beat the price!

FOUR - An updated take on the classic aviator sunnies! My most worn sunglasses this winter.

FIVE - I bought these flats around the holidays and I am so happy I did! I went with the black patent and I am really hoping they bring back the white patent color. Super comfortable and a classic look!

SIX - The chicest baby carrier there ever was! When Sterling was first born, I borrowed a carrier from one of my friends because I had heard that babies either love them or hate them. Sterling is definitely a carrier baby and a fan of being held 24/7 lol. I searched for a carrier of my own and came across this company. I went with the denim fabric knowing it would go with most of my clothes and most importantly this carrier is cozy for both baby and mama.

SEVEN - I found this company on Instagram last year and love their choice of colors, their use of classic stripes and their array of soft fabrics. I bought this waffle set in cloud and now wear them a couple times a week. This slim fitted set is so stylish that I wouldn’t hesitate wearing it out to run errands ha!

EIGHT - I’ve had this sweater blazer for a couple years now and it is a weekly pick in my closet. I wear it in the fall and spring as a light jacket and layer it with a coat during the winter months.

How To Accessorize Your Guest Bath

THREE - Glass canisters are a go to accessory of mine to display on top of vanities. These canisters come in multiple sizes and allow for great storage for q-tips, cotton balls and other bath items. FOUR - This company has beautiful bath accessories, one of which being this alabaster grey tissue holder! With a white vanity marble top and white ceramic tiled walls, this color and material would be a great addition to your space.

FIVE - Some guests travel light, while others pack their whole home for a weekend visit. Give your guests the option to unpack their toiletries and display their lotions and makeup brushes. This acrylic organizer will be loved by your guests and it will beautifully display products on your vanity.

SIX - A luxuriously soft hand towel can easily spice up a guest bath! The tassel ends add a classic element to this room that would look gorgeous if hung on a towel ring.

SEVEN - A small vase filled with fresh flowers is an easy way to add life to any room. This ceramic, teardrop vase can stand alone or be paired with the other sizes that come in this collection of vases. Top 8 Home Decor and Fashion Finds This Week

ONE - I was in the city this past weekend and fell in love with this store! Stoney Clover offers so many varieties of customizable essentials, including travel bags, pouches, cell phone cases and and luggage tags. While I was shopping around, I was eyeing the small backpack for Sterling and this hand woven tote for myself. Below are some photos of my visit to this adorable store!

TWO - Kathleen Palmeri, an artist here in New Jersey, is top on my list of favorite local talent! I have collaborated with her on a couple of projects and her artwork never disappoints. This lucite lovely is the perfect mix of modern and traditional vibes, incorporating linen and lucite, two of my favorite materials. THREE - What’s a good coffee table book? The list goes on and on! But for this week, here are two of my favorites that have cloth-bound, classic covers with recipes and interior design tips to read inside!

FOUR - I came across Cristina_V instagram a couple months ago and feel in love with her ball name bracelets! I’ve always been a bracelet girl so these fun stretch bracelets are right up my ally. I have one of the 14k gold-filled “ball name bracelets” in size small and I just ordered a couple of the "4mm ball stretch bracelets" to stack alongside! Get ready to see these beauties all over my instagram feed because I plan to wear them on the reg. You can stick to gold or mix it up with silver, rose gold, pearl or colorful beads… you can’t go wrong!

FIVE - This past weekend, I tried on these black framed sunnies and loved how light and airy they felt! Sunglasses are extremely personal to each face shape so you do you… but know that I haven’t found a pair from this company that I don’t like.

SIX - This was another find from my city shopping spree. The material on this basic tee is so soft and comfy. I wouldn’t categorize this purchase as a bargain but I’m telling you, it’s 100% worth the splurge.

SEVEN - There is no such thing as too many vase options. The Magnolia line in Target is a reliable source for home decor and their new spring collection of vases is no exception. Shop this vase and the four other in this collection.

EIGHT - Another city find. How cute?! Sport these platform sneakers in the spring with a fun shift dress, jean shorts or a classic pair of white jeans. I spotted the natural jute sole of these shoes and was immediately sold.

Kara's List - First Week of January 2020

ONE - I’ve had these napkins for over four years (put them on my wedding registry) and they are my most used set… which is saying a lot because if you read this blog, you know that I love me some tabletop options! These menswear inspired napkins come in four varying patterns and mixed neutral colors.

TWO - My husband would most likely say that I have too many options of fleece, sherpa and shearling jackets to pick from in my closet but this fleece cardigan would be a nice addition. The lightweight, brushed knit material paired with the dusty blue color is my kind of transitional piece to take me from winter to spring or fall to winter.

THREE - The cold weather isn’t leaving Jersey anytime soon, so in the meantime, I’ll be scrolling through, shopping for summer essentials. I love the shape and color of this beach bag!

FOUR - This company has so many phenom options for wall clocks but this 1940s inspired, sage colored one is top on my list! Besides being hung on the wall, you could place this clock on a book case or intermix it in an eclectic gallery wall in your home.

FIVE - Classic stripes are a reoccurring pattern in my design projects and my personal wardrobe. I choose this pillow for my list this week because it’s a steal; you get the linen stripe pillow cover, plus your choice of a feather-down insert or a down-alternative insert. Not too shabby.

SIX - I recently raided my sister’s closet and borrowed a number of her high waisted paints. So naturally, I now want to wear high waisted paints on repeat. I came across this pair and love how they can be dressed down with white sneakers or you can make it fancy and add a healed bootie.

SEVEN - Vases are an easy way to switch up the display on your entry console, dining room table or your living room side table. I am all about the silhouette of this vase. I am thinking of incorporating this vase and the other two vases in this collection in a kitchen project of mine.

EIGHT - I already have a wide variety of travel bags but I have been on the search for one with a bottom compartment to store shoes and dirty laundry. This waxed canvas bag has a timeless look and I applaud the well thought out design.
