Kara's List - Fourth Week of December 2019

After I found out I was having a girl, I couldn’t wait to start designing the nursery. With that said, life and work happened and I ended up being extremely last minute with getting everything together. Months later, the room is now complete and I am in love with the finished product!

With the exception of the blush, lacquered, antique dresser, I wanted the bones of the room to be neutral so that I could make easy modifications if my husband and I have a baby boy in the future. Alison Junda, a local artist here in New Jersey, painted the custom crayon piece that hangs over Sterling's crib; the muted tones in this painting set the color palette for this space. The nursery is elegantly playful, exactly what I envisioned.

The majority of the project selections I source are selected exclusively from trade only vendors. But, when I started to work on Sterling’s nursery, I knew that I wanted to be able to share a lot of the sources. Below are eight of my favorite pieces in her room!

ONE - I love the simplicity of this bassinet! The white, contemporary frame blends seamlessly into our apartment. I purchased the “beach” and “blush” fabric covers. Sterling slept in this for the first month of her life and now, it is her favorite place to play. We place the cushioned part on the floor and fill it with her favorite toys and books.

TWO - I came across these mini suitcases at a Design Show last winter and I immediately fell in love. They come in four different colors and they are great for room storage, decor and your baby’s first luggage.

THREE - Sterling already has too many books to count but I personally feel the more the merrier! We keep most of her books in a bookcase in her closet but I wanted to display some of our favorites. Because we are in a rental I didn’t want to paint or wall cover the room, so books, art and drapery were easy ways to add color, texture and dimension to the walls of this space. These clear shelves allow Sterling’s books to stand out on the ivory walls.

FOUR - This rough brass colored frame on this mirror ties in the hardware seen on the dresser that sits below. Sterling loves looking at “the girly in the mirror” ;)

FIVE - This company has the cutest selection of printed, fitted crib sheets. I bought this pink, checkered sheet to add a feminine touch to the crib.

SIX - Here’s a special book for all mamas and their baby. And, on top of it all, this hot pink color is adorbs!

SEVEN - I bought this blanket set for Sterling. The puckering gauze material is gorgeous! When the set first arrived, the fabric seemed rough but once I washed them, they were so cozy and soft. The scalloped, lace trim comes in eight color ways that are the perfect shades of muted colors.

EIGHT - I bought this one of a kind dresser a couple years ago, simply because I fell for the vision of this furniture company; they find gorgeous vintage pieces and revive them to brighten up a space. I selected an antique dresser and choose a lacquer finish in Farrow&Ball, Calamine, No. 230.

Kara's List - Third Week of December 2019

Although it is the most fun, the accessorizing and decorating portion of my day is a very small part of my job description. However, the finishing touches are vital to making your house feel like a home! I use marble bowls time and time again to help accessorize a space. See below for my favorite marble bowls that you can shop today!

Enjoy…

Kara Theresa Kara's List December Third Week .jpg

ONE - The black, sleek base color with white veining on this bowl will bring a masculine vibe to your space. Place this on a wood surface, whether that’s your coffee table, entry console or nightstand! Measurements to Note: 12”dia x 3”h

TWO - This set of two triangular bowls are the perfect accessory to store your keys on your foyer table or display your paper clips on your office desk. Measurements to Note: Bowl 1: 9.5”w x 9.5”d x 5”h and Bowl 2": 11”w x 13”d x 4”h

THREE - This bowl is ideal for your kitchen counter or open shelving. Add some fruit or nuts and they will look stunning with this marble base and glass top combo!

FOUR - In last week’s post, I featured a frame that was made out of a similar blush marble tone… I am all about this color! This small bowl would be an ideal ring dish to place on your bed side table. Measurements to Note: 4”dia x 2”h

FIVE - This hexagonal bowl would make a beautiful planter on your coffee table. Ask your local nursery for tips on the best low maintenance, indoor plants that will not need any drainage. Measurements to Note: 15.5”dia x 4”h

SIX - This raw marble bowl comes in three sizes. I love the idea of stacking them on open shelving in your kitchen or choose one (preferably the largest size) to place on your coffee table. Not sure what to put in this bowl? Go with an oversized string of beads or a handful of matches that you’ve collected over the years. Measurements to Note: Small: 6”dia x 2”h Medium: 12”dia x 2.25”h Large: 18”dia x 2.5”h

SEVEN - Place this on a skinny console for a dark marble touch. Measurements to Note: 26”l x 8”w x 4”h

EIGHT - This marble bowl is propped up on a pedestal, asking to display decorative food or objects. Choose lemons or limes if this will sit on your kitchen counter or go with moss balls if it will be centered on your coffee table. Measurements to Note: 10”dia x 4.75”h

Kara's List - Second Week of December 2019

Blush pink has always been one of my favorite colors. With that said, it is not a reoccuring shade in my client’s homes so I wanted to share some of my favorite pink finds this week!

Enjoy…

Kara Theresa Kara's List December Second Week .jpg

ONE - I bought this frame last week and love the natural veining of the blush marble. This small home accent would make a perfect gift this holiday season!

TWO - The hand embroidered floral details and feminine silhouette of this cloak caught my eye. Winter just arrived but I am already thinking about sporting this piece in the spring.

THREE - I ditched the rubber hair ties about a year ago and have been wearing scrunchies since. Scrunchies are so much better for your hair (less breakage) and you can’t go wrong with the overwhelming selections on the market. This set of five velvet scrunchies are a great deal and the soft, velvet material is perfect for this time of the year!

FOUR - This company has been on my radar since I got married… it’s like buying monogrammed sneakers without having to personalize (my last name starts with a “V”)! More importantly, this company prides itself on creating beautiful sneakers with eco-friendly materials. These pink suede sneakers are right up my ally.

FIVE - I love these waterproof and stain resistant placemats. They come in five different color combinations, forest and camel being my two favorites! Go for this quarzo, blush color to add a feminine touch to your table display.

SIX - I have a couple pairs of pajamas from this company and I am never disappointed with the quality, softness and fit! The second I walk in the door, I am ready to change out of my work clothes and get into comfy pjs like these.

SEVEN - I have a knock of version of this suitcase but this company is the real deal. They have the most beautiful collections in all the right colors!

EIGHT - These slides are classic and will be a staple in your wardrobe for years to come. I love the shade of this light pink leather!

Kara's List - First Week of December 2019

Today’s post is based around all things cozy: throws & slippers. As the temps continue to get lower, I constantly find myself on the hunt for these two household items. It is the season of giving, and hinting to others what you want, so I figured this list would come in handy this month!

Enjoy…

ONE - Joe and I received this cable knit throw as a wedding present and it is still one of my most used blankets! It is so comfortable and it’s the perfect, lightweight material that can be used all year round.

TWO - These loop scuff slippers are so fun and are definitely what you’ll want to put on when you have guests over but don’t feel like getting dressed up. These could pass for flats!

THREE - The beige and blue color scheme on this throw is used on repeat in most of my projects. The alpaca fibers in this throw make it super soft and airy!

FOUR - I buy slippers from this company every year and this pair is currently in my cart. These fleece slippers are very reasonably priced, on sale and most importantly, extremely comfortable! These are the perfect slippers for the cold winter ahead!

FIVE - I love the waffled look for throws and towels so this pick was an easy one for me. Being that it is cashmere, the comfort level shouldn’t be a concern.

SIX - Who doesn’t love a luxurious pair of hotel slippers when they travel?! These minimalist slippers are your hotel slippers in the comfort of your own home! They are the perfect pair of house slippers that can be worn all year round.

SEVEN - I already bought a blush, faux fur throw for Sterling’s nursery but now I want this! The beige, fawn print is too good!

EIGHT - These fun and feminine slippers ended up on my list because I fell in love with the combination of the sweater, soft knit and the fun pom pom that sits on top! They come in three color options, cream white, blush pink and black, so take your pick!
